As 2024 draws to a close, we take this moment to reflect on a year marked by significant strides and progress for the Eastern Pennsylvania Bleeding Disorders Foundation (EPBDF). We also turn to you—our valued community members—with a heartfelt message regarding our Annual Campaign, and the vital role your support plays in the lives of those affected by bleeding disorders.
At EPBDF, our mission remains unwavering: to uplift, empower, and unite individuals and families living with bleeding disorders across our 41-county service area. Through Education, Programming, Advocacy, and Financial Assistance, we strive to be a beacon of hope and support for all who turn to us in their time of need. This year, we are aiming to raise $30,000 to expand these critical initiatives and further enhance the services we provide to our growing community.
Education & Programming: Strengthening Knowledge, Building Community
At EPBDF, we believe that knowledge is transformative. Whether through in-person workshops, virtual seminars, or accessible online resources, we ensure that individuals have the tools they need to navigate the complexities of bleeding disorders with confidence. This year alone, we’ve hosted 20 educational events, each designed to empower families with up-to-date information, resources, and emotional support.
But knowledge is only part of the equation. Community-building lies at the heart of our programming. From our family support groups to the social events that bring us together, EPBDF is where lifelong connections are forged, and no one has to face the challenges of a bleeding disorder alone.
Advocacy: Standing Up, Speaking Out
We are proud to serve as a vocal advocate for our community, ensuring that the needs and rights of those affected by bleeding disorders are represented at both the state and national levels. This year, we participated in 11 advocacy events—amplifying our voice in Washington, D.C. and Harrisburg to fight for better healthcare access, more affordable treatment options, and comprehensive support systems. Your donations make this advocacy possible, fueling our ability to influence policies that bring lasting, positive change.
Women, Girls, and People with the Potential to Menstruate Initiative: A Focus on Underserved Populations
In addition to our regular programming, we are especially proud of our ongoing initiative to address the needs of women, girls, and people with the potential to menstruate. This year, in collaboration with Western PA Bleeding Disorders Foundation, we’ve made great strides in raising awareness about how bleeding disorders uniquely affect this underserved population, ensuring better screening, diagnosis, and care. Through targeted outreach, advocacy, and education, we are shining a spotlight on the critical importance of recognizing and addressing bleeding disorders in these individuals, many of whom have long gone undiagnosed or misunderstood. Your contributions directly support this important initiative and help us expand these efforts in the coming year.
Financial Assistance: Easing the Burden
Bleeding disorders not only take a physical and emotional toll but often come with significant financial challenges. In response, EPBDF has expanded our financial assistance programs, including our scholarships, to help alleviate these burdens for families. By the end of this year, we will have provided more than $50,000 in financial aid, making a real and tangible difference in the lives of our community members. Your contribution ensures that this crucial support continues to grow.
Special Financial Assistance Campaign
In addition to our goal of raising $30,000 this year, we are thrilled to announce a special opportunity made possible by the generosity of the Foxwynd Foundation. We have been awarded a $50,000 grant dedicated to financial assistance for our community. As part of this exciting partnership, we’ve committed to raising an additional $10,000 to maximize the impact of this grant, for a total of $60,000!
We invite you to consider contributing to this special campaign, either in addition to your annual donation or as your primary gift. Your support will enable us to extend even more financial relief to families in need, and we would be sincerely grateful for your generosity in helping us meet this goal. Please include “Special Campaign” in the memo on your check, or if donating online, please specify.
Together, we can make an even greater difference for those who depend on us.
